83 Flh

My first shovel. Everything prior was a Sportster or a Triumph. Here's a couple of my 83 FLH 80" , bought this in 1988. This is the bike I was on when my brother was run off the road by a cage and killed in 96, I was right next to him. Did'nt ride it to much after that, and still dont.

I do,... I do. I was torn from that incident for many years. It was only riding on that bike that always brought it back. He and I had the same bikes. His was an 84 in black, mine's a 83 in maroon.
To this day!, I have a real peeve about cages going over the double yellow. I use to carry large steel nuts just in case...........

I try to stay away from center lines these days. One wrong move and it's all over. Some jerk was passing over the line comming out of niles canyon, and Me and the wife had to go to the shoulder on our bikes to avoid being wiped out.

Well, here's my Sporty. Still have pieces to get and put on.

When I first got it:
(paint was laid over grease, and the thing smoked like a oil refinery)

How it looks now, not quite yet finished:

Hope to have it completed later this summer.

Great looking bikes gents.

Sorry to hear of your Brother Angle.

I must have typed and deleted about 20 lines of text in response.

Glad to see people who hang on to things (BIKES) still

I liked it alot too, but things just weren't right. Some things still aren't, but that's another story.

In the blue mode the rear shocks were frozen. Either that or they were meant for a F-350. The paint on the frame had been shot without any type of cleaning, so it'd just flake right off when I tried to wash it. And I don't even think I have to say anything about that front drum brake.

I've had the bike running in the red mode for about 40 miles before the generator blew. I had made my own crude 2:1 pipe for it, but I think I have to find actual pipes that'll look decent. And the front wheel that is on it now is either bent or out of true, I have to take it to my Indy to find out for sure.

Like I say, hopefully by mid-summer it can be road worthy again.
