Seat Pins

Anybody used these?

Luggage racks/seat configs on my FXDL and FXSTS make getting the seats off a problem. Thinking this direction, but seems too simple and I can see the little pin hitting the ground and heading for parts unknown.

I went to Lowes and picked up a knob w/ a 1/4-20 screw. It makes life much easier.

Problem is clearance is too tight to turn a knob under the luggage racks; the back bar(s) are also just right to be wrong for a 1/4" extension or a long screwdriver shank. The pin option would work, but I'm wondering how well they stay in place.
