Need to cut laid tile on a fancy curve
Want to do it at approx 72" radius so I can finally do some carpet in the den.
I removed a door so I have to redo carpet. Score it or cut it somehow and remove excess, then the morter and plastic waffle I put under it alá Mike Holmes. What say ye, gentleman? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1348523384.654463.jpg

Looks like a Dremel or a RotoZip would handle the cutting. Maybe make yourself a jig if you can't freehand it (I'm terrible at freehanding cuts like that).

Got any spare tiles??
You have to determine whether those are porcelain or ceramic tiles. If they are ceramic, you may be able to do the Dremel thing with a bunch of tile cutting bits. If they are porcelain, which it looks like they are, you are screwed. Porcelain is wicked hard. You would need to use a tile wetsaw to cut them freehand, which means you must have spares, cuz those aren't coming up in one piece. Perhaps ditch the curve idear. Make it a straight transition on a grout line.

Gonna need an angle grinder with a small diamond blade. Small spritz bottle to wet the tile you are cutting slightly as you go along. You'll want to go slow and score a cut line, then come back along the same line until you are through. Be careful with that skinny piece in the middle of the curve. I had a radius around the apron on our tub, it just takes patience.

If you attempt to cut them in place, you might consider building a small enclosed area with thin clear plastic drop cloths (1 or 2 mils thick) as the dust will be everywhere. You could build a little inlet to draw in fresh air, and use a shop vac through a corresponding hole on the other side to pull the dust out. A good respirator is a must. I would cut a rough edge 1/4 or 1/8 inch proud of the finished line your after, then do the final trim very carefully. It doesn't take much with a mini grinder and diamond blade to screw up an edge.
Home Depot or Lowes sells bags for the inside of the dust collectors that are made to hold drywall dust. This would be a good thing to have in your shopvac. "IF" you have any matching tile, my suggestion would be to remove what you need and cut new ones with a wet saw then thinset them in place.
