Great route, Ken.

Travler packed, serviced, and gassed up. Heading out right after work. Should be in Guttenberg by 10 pm.

WOOT!

Rollin' out of here 8-ish.

Edit @ 7:10 am: gonna leave later, take the southern (Rockford-Galena-Dubuque) route.

Big nasty runnin' right over my planned, northern (Janesville-Monroe-Prairie du Chien) route, as we speak and for some time this morning.....

Big Tom, d j, and I had a nice ride yesterday, once the rain blew out of town. The beginning of the ride was interesting as there was debris washed onto the roads in spots due to the heavy rains the Guttenberg area received Friday and Saturday morning. Steady hands on the bars and attention to the road conditions were definitely required!

We rode mainly up the west side of the Mississippi from here to La Crescent, MN and back down the east side from La Crosse, WI to Prairie du Chien, WI, and then crossed back to the Iowa side and proceeded back to Guttenberg.

We did make a detour to Waukon Harley as d j's Travler had a rear brake light switch failure early yesterday morning. Waukon H-D was able to get Travler in and repaired in short order. Waukon also sells other touring motorcycle brands and were having an open house next door. We sat on the latest touring bikes, visited with a salesman and partook of the brats, baked beans, chips and soda present at said open house. Nothin' wrong with that free lunch!

We stopped for supper at the Riverview Cafe in downtown Guttenberg, offered a toast those who've passed, then enjoyed a fine meal while overlooking the lock and dam and the mighty Mississippi located just outside the large picture windows of the restaurant.

Dirty Dan drove down from La Crosse and joined us a little later for his supper.

The four of us returned to the Eagle View Motel for an evening of stimulating conversation and liquid refreshment.

It was a fine day, indeed.

Just rolled in about a half hour ago.

BigTom got off the exit before mine to go to work.

We had a fantastic weekend. I can not think of two better riding buds than Ken and Tom. Super happy to have seen old Dirty Dan come join us for supper and hang out at the hotel.

It was especially nice to toast our departed riders. Kinda went ol' school to show respect by leaving a empty place at the table and a full bottle of Bud.

R.I.P. fellas.

Overall, it's been a great ride. Peace. dj
