BEERS....

Anyone tried Founders Dirty Bastard
Scotch style ale?... If so... can I get a review?
Looking for something different for my
short rib recipe. I usually use Newcastle
Brown ale, or Guinness Stout.

As always...thank you for your input.

I have never tried that particular brand.

But, maybe this will help;

Rib Beer

It is all about the flavor it will impart so choose wisely. We recommend styles brewed with dark malts in the grain bill.

Think styles such as dark lagers (dunkel or schwarzbier), brown ales and especially stouts and porters. The more malt forward and roasty, the better.

The ale we used is a smooth, sweet, rich porter ale with very robust roasty notes. Founders Brewing Co. Porter is about as perfect of a beer for short ribs as it gets. It pours dark and velvety and we are pretty sure that the short ribs get excited about their own prospects when this porter comes into play

No idea why I find this discussion so fascinating since I'm allergic to beef and don't like beer, but fascinating it is. An acquaintance made some pretty nice-looking ribs with Irish whiskey. Can't speak to the taste for myself, but they smelled good and disappeared from the platter fast.

Yeah, that's right: we raise cattle and I'm allergic to beef. At least I don't eat up all the profits.

I love to drink it when I can get Dirty Bastard. I like the flavor, I don't have the palate to describe all the flavors, but it's quite tasty.

I like Founders Porter. The local Total Wine says they carry the Dirty Bastard. Just may have to swing buy and buy some to give a try.

I like Dirty Bastard better than Backwoods Bastard, aged in bourbon barrels.

Times three, I reckon. We usually buy half a pig from the college every year. What on earth do people who don't hunt or live near an ag college do for decent meat?
