Last year I wore some under armour cold gear under my pants. They actually work pretty good, but the wind still cuts through them. Maybe I'll look at some of those nylon overpants...or lined jeans.

Fleece-lined jeans help, but they don't stop the wind. Chaps are great down to a point, but overpants are your best bet.

Longjohns, pants and chaps seem to work pretty good, other than scratchin' yerself at the rest stops all the time.........

I have the powder, but I always forgot to use it.

I have a few pair of fleece or flannel lined jeans and they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I was out riding today in 43 degree weather and legs never even came close to being cold. As far as the route down to Steubenville, I can tell you most of route 11 sucks. It's a boring rough ride through a lot of it. I'd take Route 7 down to Rt 88 and take that over to 11 which will keep you from going through Youngstown. I ride down that way all the time and there is a ton of ways to go and all of them are only going to be 10-15 minutes different in ETA. Personally I'd rather add 10 minutes on the trip and take a smoother more scenic route. |

There is a definite difference between the fleece and flannel lined jeans. Fleece will block the wind where flannel doesn't. The fleece lining is usually heavier and warmer than the flannel as well. My choice for cold weather riding is fleece lined.
