Are we over Sturgis...

I notice 9, now 10, threads in this forum since we opened the doors...

I have no desire to go to Sturgis, Bike Week, Laughlin, Hollister, Daytona, et. al....

Seems to me a lot like going to the fair only with bike shlt...

Thought of being in a throng of idiots on bikes is none to appealing to me...

I usually ride away from "people"...

I'm pretty much over going to Sturgis during the rally. Would love to go ride the Black Hills again when there aren't 500,000 people there though.

Other than going to Daytona Bike Week, to say that I've been there done that, I can't think of another major rally that I would be willing to put up with all of the idiots and price gouging.

We can practice holding our pinkies up when drinking adult beverages in ES.

We go to Sturgis for the racing which seems to less and less each year. There is drag racing, MX racing, three hillclimbs and flat track racing almost every night.

We use the bike for transportation around town because it is a nightmare in a cage and we also avoid the throngs and just mostly just hang out with some friends camping, cooking out, drinking and telling stories.
I know a few secret roads in the Black hills for the few times we go for a ride when it gets too freakin hot in town.

Not much different than a Doofapaloza -- except the camping part.

I still want to go at least once. Go up early - ride - stay for a couple days of the rally, then leave.

I would like to hit Daytona and Biketoberfest as well.

I agree with the ride away from "people" bit. I am always more relaxed when I am alone on the bike or in small groups.

I'd go Sturgis the week before the rally if I were you. All of the vendors are there for two weeks and the crowds don't really start rolling in until Monday of rally week. That way you could get all of your riding in and stay in town to party a couple of days and hit the road.

That's the only way I'd go back.
