They carry a piece of lawn/garden timber and lean over so the frame supports the motorcycle.
We sometimes (like all the time) lean so far that other things than just the tires rub on the pavement. Floorboards are first, then sidestand springs. The pavement files away part of the spring. So they take the bolt out and remove the sidestand bar. |

I've maybe sort of hit on the board arms lightly, I know go too far and it lifts the rear tire clear of the pavement, saves on tire wear but is heck on the paint job.
The CHP motor officers may do that occasionally on off ramps at too high a speed, but there is always a convenient diesel fuel spill, on the ramp, just before they went down.
