Check the mileage/weight numbers.
The Avons tend to run to a softer compound and the heavier the bike (or throttle grip) the quicker they wear out. I put a set on a Softtail and they were gone in less than 5,000 miles. It's been a few years so I don't remember the exact ones, but they scare me. Good traction until they went,'though.

Messed with a set at an indy shop once. They were to small of a diameter for my hands so I didn't buy them.

I got the Harley version because they came in 2 sizes and I have big hands. Been on 2 years and no wear at all. The end cap came lose on the throttle side but I glued it back on with grip glue and no further problems..they look like brand new. Very comfy. Love em.

Had them on Vader. Very small diameter, and only lasted about 5,000 miles. Replaced them with Kury Isos and never looked back.

Obviously Dinero didn't get the memo! or (Clicky) in this case! LOL
I've been running a pair of them for just over a year, and I like them. A LOT! My hands can grip them more like on my old dirt bikes, I feel I have a real hold on the handlebars and not just hanging on to them. In the previous three years winters, I had used a slip on throttle assist lever because I couldn't hold onto the larger grip when my hands were cold. I have yet to use this device since changing my grips to the contours. I just noticed they are offering this grip in a heated version now. $219.99 is a bit much, so I will likely glove up for half the money. On the same note, me being a wood butcher my hands are pretty rough, thus are creating a bit of rapid wear on the stippling on the grip. As their is a lifetime warranty on the grip and the rubber as well, when I wear mine out I will just request new rubber for them. My $0.02 aka BOB

They look nice and have always intrigued me to try a set, but alas, haven't yet.

A new set of Avon Contours arrived yesterday. Installed 'em today.
They are definitely grippy. But they're only eversoslightly larger in diameter than the stock grips. So, we'll see how these'll work. I may consider getting a set of H-D Get-a-grip magnums if these prove to be not of my liking........
