While we catch hail from time to time here, I think the worst hail storm I was ever caught out in was in West By God Virginia.

Dang! I am always fearful of getting caught in a hail storm of that size when I'm out riding in the western and plains states in the summer while out on the motor.


When working in the Lincoln dealer a brand new Town Car came into the shop with golfball sized dents all over the horizontal surfaces.

Not nearly that big (more like the size of a piece of popcorn) but did get caught in a blast of rain and hail while riding my Deluxe on the PA turnpike. It was a section of road where there were no overpasses or cover for miles. Slowed to about 35mph and ducked in behind the windshield as best I could hoping to get to an overpass. I finally got to one...……..about 4 or 5 miles down the road. And...…………….as you may have guessed...…………..I no more than pulled to a stop and shut off the bike than the hail and rain stopped.
