2011 FLHX

861.1 miles later I am still enthralled. Y'all tried to tell me how different it would be and it's not that I didn't believe you I just had absolutely no concept. . .

First off the electronic throttle is amazingly sensitive. It's very easy to give her too much throttle and I'll have to adjust my grip because if I hit a big bump of some sort it's too easy to hit the throttle and give her a burst of speed when you don't really want it. My mechanic tells me it can't be adjusted so I'll adapt.

Curves are sheer joy. I never realized how hard I worked to put Tawanda into, keep her in and then pull her out of a curve. Felix falls into them, skates through and almost brings herself out of them with little or no effort from me. Sheer joy, I'm tellin ya!

Wind. . .I hit 30 mph or more winds as I rode into west Texas and I could certainly tell it was windy but I didn't have to fight to keep her on the road. She handled wind effortlessly.

I'm still a little unsure of myself in slow tight situations, such as turning and/or parking and backing, but practice makes perfect and I'll get there.

The front end, faring and all, is actually a little less heavy than Tawanda, believe it or not.

Troy says she has the heavy duty swing arms and that's a good thing.

I love the bags and as soon as I get the stuff in them that I feel I need to take with me every time I ride it's going to be so easy just to hop on Felix and take off at a moments notice.

The music adds a whole 'nuther element of enjoyment to the ride and once I figured out the controls it was even better!

I have changed to a taller windshield that I can still see over but blocks a heck of a lot more wind than the short stock one. I will probably go with the inner fairing antenna and I'm told that they make a "shorty" detachable tourpak that is a little more sporty looking. I can't decide if that's the way I want to go or if I want to go with a luggage rack and some kind of low profile ride bag. . .

I'm in love! I mean really! And I can't stop grinning. It's the best purchase I've ever made and it's going to change the whole game!

We all knew you'd love it! the steering geometry on the FLs is the big secret weapon in low speed handling. I frankly can't figure why the softails haven't gotten the same treatment. Pretty soon you'll be doin' the ride-like-a-pro Jiffystand dragging stuff!

And thus, has Tawanda's season of neglect quietly begun...

I know exactly how you feel. When I took my first ride on my first Ultra, I knew I had been missing a lot, and the new bike is just that much better. I miss my old Fat Boy ocasionally, but I'm a bagger forever now.

And as to the low speed handling, use the "Ride Like a Pro" method. Friction zone. Throttle/brake/clutch. Slip the clutch, ride the rear brake and modulate the throttle so the engine revs a bit, and the clutch slips. While riding the rear brake you can accomplish very tight turns at a very slow speed. HEAD and EYES! Where you look, you will go! Turn your head, look at where you want to be, use the friction zone, and you're there! Don't worry about slipping the clutch, it's a wet clutch, and you can't hurt it by doing this on occasion.

Excellent write-up! You feel the same way I did when I moved from the Fatboy to the street glide. Get the big tour pack on a a removable mount. You won't be sorry. Comes in handy and carrys a ton of stuff. You could get the middle sized TP and still do well. The 'razor' TP is worthless unless you're delivering pizzas one at a time. I put my TP on mine as removable, but it's never come off unless I'm doing spring cleaning.

Whatever you do, enjoy Felix. Like you said, they enjoy the curves and love sucking up the miles. Take lots of pics!

once you go bagger you never go back, your bike has the SE compensator on it, so I would imagine that slow speed launches are more predictable than older models, I frankly can't stand mine, but other than that you will only love it more and more.....

welcome to the world of baggin'
