The Latest on Air Cleaners?

My CVO came with the El Crappo paper air filter. (They upped to the Ventilator for the CVOs in 2011)
So, what's the latest fancy new AC that's all the rage, hmmm?

I haven't seen much on the Exotx in two years; apparently it must not be 'all that'...or is it? Their website looks stagnant with "New For 2009!" and not much sign of life. Doc was talking them up back then but I don't know his current stance.

I've ordered a tuner, and I need to make a move on the AC. Just looking for suggestions

Unless you're planning on going with a build, any of the "Stage 1" air cleaners will flow as much air as your motor can use. I'd be surprised if your bike didn't already have some sort of "hi-flow" A/C in place, even though it has a paper filter.

I swapped mine out for one that matched my wheels, but it doesn't appear that the Mothership offers one that matches yours. The Ventilator is nice, in that it doesn't stick out real far and there's no issue with leg clearance.

Mine is the 'base' twin cam touring set up with a bracket to hold up the two-screw SE football.

So, does that mean that there may be a take-off Ventilator in the offing?
I would consider myself in the market.

If you ordered the pv from fm then for 50 more bucks you get a high flow filter, it's what I got

About that setup, the SE backing plate was putting quite a bit of oil on the filter. The S&S plate has a bit different config on the passages and it hasn't put a drop of oil in the filter.

I'm like Russ on the filter, I assume most all the cloth or Exotx filters will outflow any normal requirements.

The meshy thingy that keeps dirt particulates from getting sucked into the air inlet of the engine due to low pressure differential of the intake manifold sorta thing...

I agree. The any air filter that allows all the air in that the motor can ingest is good enough; and any of the higher-flow filters can do that on a 110 cu in motor.

I do have one other criteria, though. I don't want engine-heated air to be sucked in. Auto manufacturers go to great lengths to duct outside air into the cleaner and motor. So putting on an air cleaner that allows engine heated air is (presumably) a bad thing.

So I use the Harley Heavy Breather. When I look at my IAT on the PowerVision, it's the same as the actual air temperature.

With my previous Draco air cleaner, it was 30 or more degrees higher than ambient. So I got rid of the Draco.

ken I agree on the air temp issue. I wonder what IAT is seen on Dan's and others' ventilator setups.
