Dallas International Motorcycle Show January 13-15, 2017

That's next weekend!

Who's going?

I know I am, probably Saturday morning.

We could either meet for breakfast before the show, or meet at the show and have lunch.

Rain and temps in the low 40's might be my excuse.

Spill!

If it rains I'll drive my truck.

But I'll still wear all my leathers so everyone there will think I rode

I'll be a game time decision, we've got company coming into town and it's pretty likely that I'll be doing last minute errands for she who must be obeyed.

Would it generates more interest if I told you there were naked women there?

Had a good time today. I met KenR, Mike, JD and George there. We walked around, had some meaningful conversation with the Scala representative and VP, talked with John Lazaroni (probably spelled that wrong) from J&M and saw a bunch of motorcycles. Unfortunately, I left my phone at home, so I wasn't able to take any pictures of the hords of naked women roaming the center. Even had a nice girl all me if I was Asian.

I found it interesting that Indian had a touchscreen GPS/radio that will pair with a headset such as Scala or Sena. Ask a Harley factory rep about it and you may as well be speaking Martian.

J&M is coming out with a dongle in July that will allow 2-way bluetooth communication with the Harley radio. Unfortunately, it will only work with J&M equipment like the rest of his crap. I may buy some of their replacement Headey speakers and slice them into the Scala headset.

After the show, we went to The Rustic, where I had their signature burger along with a mountain of onion rings. Good stuff! Of course, with no phone I couldn't take any pictures of the food or the hords of naked women that followed us there.

Well, I did take my camera. Got a couple of interesting shots. Unfortunately, just missed the naked women.

But here's a picture of how they change the lightbulbs 35 feet up in the ceiling:

And here's something you don't see every day. The valet guys said that the SUV drove in missing a wheel. The driver went in and had lunch; and when finished, left . . . still wheel missing. It would roll - scoot - roll - scoot (and so on.

I was impressed with John and what he's done over the past 40 years. One-man show, now 39 employees. AND, he still mans his own booths at motorcycle shows!

I do wish he'd design and produce accessories that can be used with other brands's electronic equipment. I think he's passing up a huge market potential. Everyone wants a generic Harley dongle that will pair with Scala, Sena, Uclear and the rest of the Bluetooth helmet headsets. His best helmet speakers (actually the best one can buy) will only plug into his J&M systems; the plug is proprietary. Would have been just as easy to put a stereo miniature plug on the end so we can all buy them.

But it's HIS company and he's been successful; cannot argue with that.

Ken

Proprietary means you have to buy his equipment. A captive audience as it were. So no inexpensive accessories.
