I talked to her about 6:00 this morning.

She is snug in her little nest at the Emergency Center office. Her only real worry is that she knows nothing about what is happening at home and how her motorcycle has fared. She won't get to go home today and probably not tomorrow. She does know that the electricity went out at her house and the streets are flooded. Probably getting bored and anxious to get out of there, but basically she is doing fine.

YAY! Thank you for the update! I'm glad to hear she's OK at the C.O., but I know from dealing with Hurricane Matthew last year, it's awful to not know how your home fared. I hope she can find someone to go look and let her know. Where's Cowboy?? Is he OK??

Few people realize that when hard wires go down along with hard wired power that cell phones also go down as they depend on those lines to power and send cell signals via hard lines / fiber optic lines to the next cell node / tower to get the signal in / out.


We get someone down South of here closer to LA dig up hard lines or optic lines and our cell service will be out for days. or fires will cut power or wires.


Isn't technology wonderful...


Dang need a storm vault garage building to keep the toys safe.

Hells bells. I didn't even know this thread was here. Thank you Dinero for letting everyone know I was okay. As stated, I'm fine, my house is fine, and my bike is fine. The only thing I lost was everything in my refrigerator freezer. Love y'all madly!

The thing is that there was a fiber optic cable shortage before the hurricanes. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to even receive the replacement cable before it can be installed. Some of my OSTs (outside techs) sent me pics from Rockport of our cell towers laying down on the job. It's going to be a long road to recovery in both states.
