South Houston Indy #RockApproved

Name is Find my new local Indy in South Houston. Name is Jim Aubuchon

Got rid of my vibes at 80mph when the dealer couldn't find it twice. Also chromed my front end. Very easy to work with. Does what you ask. Not really into the whole up selling thing.

Does everything but stretch frames for the most part. All service, engine upgrades, etc can be done here for better price than the dealer. He use to work at Harley, but got tired of the atmosphere.

After reading all the replies, and as it seams all things make a glide vibrate, I have to ask what fixed your vibration issue Rock?

After all the good info shared from your original vibration thread, I have to guess alignment of the front motor mount, but alas I am not a trained HD mechanic nor do I want to be. I have turned all the wrenches on mine to date, and am considering doing the tensioners myself.
Don't call me cheap. Call me frugal!

It was the compensator nut inside of my stator rotor. It was loose and was wearing the teeth out. Even made excess engine noise that I had gotten use to.

Replaced that and 80 feels just like 50. I damned near sold this bike after the dealer kept telling me it was normal over 20k. I have been walking through the BMW bike dealership on several occassions. Glad he found the issue. Cams and more chrome coming. Maybe not in that order. I love it again like when I first bought it.

Still pissed the dealer couldn't find. I replaced all 4 brackets in my fairing and front motor mount. Some coin! All for the same vibes.

$120 he fixed the problem. Dammit.

Just to clarify.....did he just tighten up the compensator nut? Or did he replace the rotor (if the nut is loose the teeth on the rotor will round off) or did he replace a worn out rotor? I think a rotor costs more than a buck twenty.

Maybe you should identify this dealer and add to everyones list of places to avoid. Maybe a complaint with a regional representative about their serious lack of diagnostic ability for a common problem.

Serious, anybody who can say straight faced that after 20k that sound is normal shouldn't be in the service industry.

F'ukn morons comes to mind.

Agreed. I even went to the service manager. He said they had every experienced tech ride my bike. All said this was normal. I know Harley's vibrate but 80 mph was very different. Mt best work and tuning was always by an Indy. Just took me a while to find one. I understand why some have a bad taste in their mouth with Harley, if they experience this often. I almost gave up myself. Off my soapbox now.

The HD mechanics go to training and learn this phrase.

"They All Do That! "

A few ES's back I overhead the service writer telling a local owner that his Harleys rocker box gasket was leaking because the owner only rode it 5,000 miles a year that causes the gasket to dry out and start leaking.
