I think the Martian was the best movie of 2015. The book was incredible too.

It appealed to me as a die-hard geek and as a complete data nerd.

Btw - the story of how he crowd sourced some of the science behind the book as well as how he got the publishing/movie deal are really neat.

Loved the Martian in book form. The movie, though not as good as the book, was an instant hit with me.

I haven't read the book, but I did really enjoy the martian. My have to pick up the audiobook some time for a listen.

Although for me, I have to give movie of the year to Mad Max Fury Road. Love that movie. So many complicated issues all stuffed into a beautifully rendered chase with characters that are bigger than life. I can just watch that flick again and again.
