RAM X-Grip...

Mounted up with other RAM hardware..

I mounted to my mirror. Bottom, and came under the bars, it's actually pretty clean looking.

This is my PV2, but same conept...

...pardon my dust.

Here is what I used, from their website. You can take their part numbers and find them less expensive elsewhere... I've collected parts and pieces over the years from different projects.

These are in order, from the mirror to the unit, I did not include my specific mount, and I believe the X-Grip comes with an arm.... I'll post it last.

Under the mirror I also used a washer between the acorn nut and this base.

First arm:

Adapter (I Plastidipped the aluminum arm):

Short arm going up to the PV2:

Here is the X-Grip, and 4" arm... You could do away with the first arm I posted above...

+1 on the X grip. I have a couple of them in my vehicles and they work great on the different phones I have had, with or without phone cases.
I liked using them so much, I also have the bigger X grip to hold my iPad. Worked just fine whether it was my iPad 1st gen and then when I bought iPad Air, again with or without the Otterbox, it adjusts and holds them in place nicely.
