Why was this kept a secret?
I feel like this has been kept a huge secret from me all of my life....and nobody told me?!
SO, I'm going to start off with "Did you know..." and I'll bet most people reply with something along the lines of "Well...DUH...yeah... I knew that from when I was a little toddler cruising on my trike around the front yard. What planet have you been on all of these years?!" Here goes... Did you know that aluminum foil is absolutely AMAZING when it comes to cleaning and polishing chrome? I was getting frustrated with the moldy, abused, crusty, scaling, starting to rust look of my chrome. Especially the wheels and crash bar. I read on some web site, while searching on what type of steel wool to use on chrome, that aluminum foil works better/easier. HOLY CRAP my shiny stuff is shining like it's never shone before! It's like a wet mirror of perfection now! I wish I had before/after pics to demonstrate how well my bike turned out. I wound up going over EVERY bit of chrome on the bike and it sparkles now more than when I first got it! Just in case there is one other spaced out chrome owner on this forum that hasn't heard/experienced this inexpensive miracle (other than me)... go to the kitchen and grab some aluminum foil, get it wet (use water, not spit ya goofball!) rub on some chrome and wipe it clean. *POW* Enjoy your new shinyness!

I didn't know about the foil, but 0000 steel wool works great as well.
Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for sahring. I have never heard of this and will give it a try. I do have a part on my air cleaner that is dulled and I have not been able to get it to shine so I'm curious how this may work.

*phew* I was beginning to wonder if this was something "everybody else knew but me"... but it sounds like it news to some of you as well.
I know it sounds weird. My first thought was that there was no way this would work, if anything it'll scratch the chrome. So I tried it on a piece not easily seen (the underside of a muffler). The article I read stated that aluminum is a softer metal than the chrome and it's a partial chemical reaction between the aluminum rubbing off, taking rust and corrosion with it, and turning it into an aluminum oxide residue that is easily wiped up with a wet rag. I can't speak highly enough of the results!

Not only does it clean chrome, but you can make a hat out of it to stop alien brain probes.
