Riding into the sun

The sun is lower in the sky and I sometimes ride straight into it mornings or evenings. Any tips on helmets, visors, glasses....to see better. Sometimes all I can do is shade my eyes with a free hand.

Ugly goggles from Mrs. Gunworks seem to block it quite well, at least for me.

Ugly goggles or Wiley X. Don't get the transitional lenses they don't get dark enough. The polarized Wiley X smoke lenses transmit 13% of sunlight. I haven't found anything better in a sunglass. I believe the ugly goggles are made for welding. They might be better.

Squint. The built-in sunshield in the Evoline does a good job. In warmer weather I've got a pair of polarized Wiley-X glasses that do OK. But as I said, I squint and turn my head a lot.

Dan, I fell in love with the transition lenses while I was in my flying phase of life and figured if I could fly all hours of day and night with them, they'd work on the road on the bike. NOT. However, they are good about 85% of the time, and I carry a set of clip on shades from Wally World to put over them for that 15% of riding directly into the sun. The combo has worked well for years for me. Also had the eye doc tint a pairt of my old bifocals, and so far they are excellent.
Also, in the days when I could see without my glasses, I had a pair of aviator sunglasses I bought at Keesler AFB (I think they are Raybans) that I rode my old Hondas with for years and never had a sunglare problem.

Put tape on your visor just above your line of vision ... tip you head and use it like a cap visor. I usually use black electrical tape on a black visor.

Visor on my half shell, tilt my head down a bit and blocks the sun.

I put a little longer visor on.

My full face, I tilt my head

Gatorz blue mirrors worked fine for me, until I had to go prescription.
Wearing Rudy Project blue mirrors now.
No problems.

Polarized lenses improve virtually any good lens' effectiveness, especially with the sun at severe angles.
