Tried it. Didn't work. Bought a new windshield. Won't do that again.

Never use a paper towel on a plastic windshield.
May as well use a 2x4.

Wet.. not dry, but apparently there are many more windshields than cleaners. Use what works for you, I have used rainx and clearview shields since 98 without issue. I understand some BMW guys have problems because of some anti glare coating the BMW factory sprays on the shield. There is no coating on a clearview shield, and it is a blended acrylic so it may be just made right. Clearview says yes, use it. I also use wet scott towels on it and never scratch it, final buffing is done with a microfiber cloth.
I would test your shield before using anything since some chinese made crap some of you may be using may turn white and grow daisys with the wrong cleaner. I use it, it works, have done so for 12 years, your results may vary depending on shield, cleaner and application technique.

My only issue w/ Rain-X and similar products involves light mist and/or fog. If there ain't enough rain to bead up, it just creates an annoying freakin' fog on the windshield that even the wipers have a tough time dealing with.

I typically use Lemon Pledge for my windscreen.Cleans the bugs off pretty good, the water beads up and rolls off, and it's lemony fresh. Especially effective when used on the faceshield of a full face helmet.

No argument or concern about it hurting Clearview; Clearviews aren't coated and Clearview says use it. But the factory shield IS coated as I found the hard way while using alcohol wipes. Get a spot too wet, for too many seconds, and the coating SWILL seperate. I tend to think that Rain-x could do the same...to a factory windshield. But I don't know. I'm trying to find out if anyone here uses the stuff on the factory shield?

Been using the Zook spray this season. Helps with moving water of the shield, not as good as Rain-X but better than without. Also helps some with removal of bugs and chit.

I dont keep factory shields on long enought, always on a clearview, and thats all I can recommend it on. I would listen to DJ on the factory shield. If he did it then the moco shields are coated and its a no go. I didnt know they were coated, surprized at that.

It looked like a fingernail-sized piece of Saranwrap was on the shield and i was sliding it and bunching it up. I think I just need to get a Clearview! So, anybody else besides DJ have experience using it on a stock 'shield? I completely believe you, DJ; just looking for more input(!)
