Kowalski KLR 650, cheap new and plenty of juice. I rode one, sit high but well balanced and fairly powerful for what it is. 5k new for 2008.

That Buell Ulysses of Darrell's was a damn nice bike and would be perfect for something like that. That V-Strom is another nice choice.

You can probably pick one up at a decent price locally I would bet.

I really, really like the Scrambler. It's old school and is very cool. I've been out to a Triumph forum and you should see where these guys take that bike. Pretty cool stuff.

I am very pleased with my BMW F650GS Dakar. Got me 58 mpg city/highway/trail -- However, I am probably going to sell it.



My buddy has an 08 KLR 650. I find it a bit top heavy. The thing is so tall, which puts the gas (weight) up high. It really wants to lay over. The BMW has the gas tank below the saddle bringing the center of gravity lower. Also that kawi thumper really pushes the vibes out.

The F650GS Dakar is near equal height to the KLR. The BMW F650GS is shorter.

KLR has a lot plastic. If you get one, get some of these right away. If the bike does lay down, then you will damage the fairing. They installed easy enough. We also replaced the bars and grips after he laid it down b/c the stock ones were flimsy enough to bend.

The new 08 Kawi is a real nice looking bike. And very reasonably priced.

A few different reasons I guess.

Mainly to get some work done on the house. (Missy wants hard wood - I still like the finished concrete) - Start a roth for Brianne. All things I can do without changing any other money around.

Sometimes I wish it was my only bike (I have to whisper that) so I could justify slapping on some pelican panniers, and really putting the miles on the bike.



Then again, I am hankering for an FXR. I know where a yellow CVO bike is.

DS are, IMHO, one of THE very best bikes for the money. Can haul on the interstate (650 and up), can take the back roads, gets GREAT fuel economy, looks really good, plenty of after market support/parts and forum help.
