I've used a Sharpie to write directions on the inside of the windscreen.
A wet soft rag and motel bar soap removed the markings easy peasy. 'No fuss, no muss!'

Recently I got a refurbished Garmin for my work truck, phone was okay but missed things. Found out a couple tips -
Update often if you have the free map service - mine really came to life after the first big one. The voice navigation is s**t, not worth the money. Phone does great. On Garmin, anyway, it matters a great deal how you enter the desired destination. It does not know, for example, "north" except on rural roads which incorporate that name. Subdivisions and towns you enter either "N" or "S". Same goes with other descriptive names, i.e. "Trail", "Circle", "Drive", etc. If you type in enough to allow the prompt line to work, choose from one of the listed names, 99% of the time it'll come up with the correct one. Type in the full name and bypass that, you're s.o.l. |
