Only the motor is obsolete, the frame was so far ahead of Harley time, they may never catch up. I did, however, add some handling tweaks since then.

Finally got all the parts together and powdercoated. Literally 5 minutes into starting to put something together, there was a f*ck up.

The bungs for the fittings on the oil tank are too close together, so I can't thread two 90 degree fittings next to one another. So I need another 45 degree fitting. Not the end of the world.

The end of the world was when I tried to unscrew the 45 degree fitting from the drain line bung, and it bound up so badly that it boogered up not only the threads in the bung, but also the ones on the fitting.

Here's my question. The tank bungs are currently threaded 1/4 NPT. For the feed line, I wouldn't mind going with a 3/8 NPT and an -8 AN hose (rather than 1/4 NPT and a -6 AN hose). I plan on getting a 1/4 NPT tap to fix the drain bung, but could I get a 3/8 NPT tap and cut the other one bigger?

Edited to add: I know I can just drill the thing and tap it, my question is whether or not that'll screw something up.

Is the fitting in question a feed or return line?

You won't screw it up. An oil line is an oil line is an oil line...

Feed line, and I don't see a downside in increasing the size. I have a fitting for the block that'll accept the -8 AN line, I'd just need to get the line.
