Sad state of affairs for sure. Ex GF worked as PAO for the local VA and didn't like the situation at all. She returned to her old PA job at the COE ASAP.

People ask me why I never went to the VA to see if any of my issues could result in VA Disability rating and receive payment. Well, I just point to these stories and say that I have never trusted the VA, and the continued stories that are published on a nearly daily basis continue to reinforce my decision to stay far, far away.

The VA was a total crap shoot before I went into the Navy and has not gotten better over the years.
I always saw it as like the place they took Jack in "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest".
