My son asked if I've adjusted my valves.

Are they too be adjusted after a certain mileage?

If your bike has stock pushrods you can't adjust them. There is no need to adjust them because the hydraulic lifters take up any slack in the valve train. If you have added adjustable pushrods they only need adjusted when they are installed. Your son may have a bike with an overhead cam. In that case there isn't a hydraulic lifter and the cam directly opens the valve.

Which is why I asked if it had adjustable push rods.

Hydraulic lifters = no adjustments. For our bikes the adjustable rods are so you don't have to lift the head.

Car engines with hydraulic lifters have (used to have) some "lash" adjustments to make with the rockers after reinstalling the heads after engine work. But this practice may have gone the way of the '57 Chevrolet....
