I like the idea. Although with the amount of miles involved to do all 48 states, you'll have to throw in a few oil changes & services along the way. That'll slow down the pack. It's possible, but'll take a lot of planning.

seriously mike I think its a grand idea

maybe there will be several around the country that could make this ride, as the convoy aproaches your area, hook up, make your ride around the country, as those you joined in reach their starting point, you just continue on, picking up new and dropping finishing riders along the way

It could turn out to be "kind of a big thing" ya know
Sounds like a great idea....However and I hate to be That Guy...but have any of you taken in to consideration the magnitude of the Doof Loops?

How about this is a 48 state DooF & others ride and if you didn't feel up to the whole thing you could join up at your state route and then drop out after a few states later and return home. (?)

Man, I think this needs to be planned for 2010 instead of 09. It's a huge undertaking and those who would want to do it (like me) will need a good deal of time off from work. We'll need to plan stops for laundry, showers, Berserker's for builds and repairs, bad weather, alternate routes etc. It's gonna take some coin also, some of us will have to stash some cash for the trip.

Can I ride just part of it?

I agree... it is impossible to combine segments.

You have to start with one of the maps in post 1 and add your part...

I think the concept is great... maybe it just needs to be done by each person google mapping the best "rides in his or nearby states" and then someone else combines them for efficiency from one state to the next to make the most sense.

at any rate, I'm on board with the concept, just troubled by the execution of not being coordinated

and while I have no doubt I could map out a damn good ride in TX I really think someone from down south nearer that damn good riding could probably do it better, since I'm several hundred miles from TX's best rides.
