Big Bend.... Anyone?
I've often thought about riding out there.
Yesterday I was talking with an indy here and he got really animated talking about the place. Apparently he and his buds have gone there six years running. His pics were impressive, the place is beautiful. He says the roads are fantastic. I'm putting it on my list. No timeframe, just thinking aloud. Has anyone here been there? Any input? Yes, been there a couple times and love it. Wouldn't take much to convince me to go back. The ride out can be tedious, but there are options other than 8-20 that make it more enjoyable.

Big Bend is beautiful. I've been there three times I think. Marathon, Fort Davis, Terlingua, The River Road. . .
May is about the latest month you want to go. . .it gets really hot there. . .and then there's the Fall. Early June is pushing it. |

Looks beautiful on the internet. Depending on when you went we would try.

I rode the Davis mountains for a week and didn't come close to seeing it all.
Check out the cabins at Balmorhea for a base camp. http://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/ba...es/motel-rooms

Can't help much with Big Bend. But what would you like to know about Great Bend?

I can tell you that Sparky and I averaged 88 mph from Alpine to Study Butte a few years back.
And there is an awesome bike shop that can weld the shit out of a cracked exhaust pipe in Terlingua Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Last year led a friend on a ride, going across the salt flats of I 80, is posted 80 MPH, rolled at close to 90 most of the hundred miles, when we pulled into Lake Point UT, he said we won't be doing that amount of sustained speed again.
And the gas mileage really sucks... Sent from mobile device prone to spelling errors

My cruise won't set above 89 mph.

Well in this case we would have had to twist the wick.
Or it could have been only 89 MPH on speed control use... Sent from mobile device prone to spelling errors
