I think I like that idea best...it allows those that wish to keep this close to their chest that ability but allows the brotherhood to share and communicate in here as needed!

That provides a bit of privacy, and at the same time allows others to benefit from other members past experience. I agree.

I would like to take a minute and put in my perspective.

I had a family member that really needed some help. Because of that, I needed some help.

Because of here, and the examples that y'all have set, I gained some knowledge and some needed understanding that there would be a life after we got through it.

I don't want to vote for opening or closing or locking this section.

But I do have to say thanks for the support that you didn't even know you were giving.

It made a difference in our lives when we were wrestling with the Devil.

i quit drinking two years ago and glad i did .still go to bars with my bros and have a good time and keep them out of trouble ,some times but to put a lock on this would not be wright .if you need to talk about some thing privately pm your bro or phone him,or even run to there house if possible but this should be left open for all users .i don't venter in very often but a lock tells me its not a place that I'm wanted .this is a place that all should feel welcome if there seeking help. it might be a first step for the .that being said ill shut up now

New to the forum but I'm going to chime in.

My name is Mike, I'm a recovering alcoholic and addict. I have been clean and sober by the grace of God and the fellowship of AA, NA and others in recovery for 18 years.

The ability to converse with others in recovery has been a major tool to staying clean and sober, and in the beginning the ability to know that there were other addicts and alcoholics who had been where I was and had recovered was of major importance. It's how I got to where I am now and how I stay there.

AA, NA and other 12-Step programs are anonymous programs and anonymity should always be maintained there but not so much in internet forums.

I think that the ability for someone who suffering to see that there is hope through the example of a peer is a good thing so therefore I do not think that the thread should be locked.

If you absolutely need anonymity go to AA and don't post here, but leave the thread open, it may make a difference in one riders life and if so it would be well worth it.

Thanks for listening.

I like the idea of open only to members. Could also make it so you need a password. But I don't know if that is needed.
