That Time of Year....

Don’t truly need them but it makes Auto feel better on winter roads and I have to admit they destroy that early morning black ice....

I can tell you, from first hand experience, a tire for a Ford cruiser takes 112 studs each.

A stud gun will leave a blister on the web between your thumb and pointer finger. I always wore rappelling gloves after the first time that happened.

Yes, end of April in Commieforina.

And they have less traction on "dry" pavement while braking hard.

Because metal slides on pavement and rubber grips on dry pavement.

Many a new to the mountains trooper didn't believe me about studs until their first time through a hard corner on dry pavement, then the cruiser lost traction.

no studs, but just put a new set of Cooper WeatherMasters on Wifes AWD Equinox...similar tread to yours...
not making that tread pattern anymore...going to directional, which limits tire rotation...
so I should be good for a couple winters...

Stranger yet is the twice yearly ritual of changing the storm windows for screens and back again.

A regional custom I don't miss up here is the "check for ticks before bed" ritual.
