Fairing mounts .........
.........might need your attention!
I noticed a bit more shaking from the fairing. Having seen several talk about the mounts decided to investigate. ...not pretty ...left side ....right side .....close-up of the break point ......there's also a crack in each of the main supports (red arrow is location). Both have the crack in the same location. Gonna try to have them welded rather than buy replacements.

Having them welded should do the trick. It's a shame they don't make them stronger!

How many miles on the bike?
One thing I have seen on H-Ds is never put a part under stress. If when tightening down a part like this, if it is not fitting flush to its matting surface, it may need to be shimmed. If tightening down the part, flexes the part, it will break every time over time. Thanks for sharing, I will look at mine. |

Bike has 45,000 (there about), '03 Ultra. If the part was under stress, it was done during assembly. None of this has been removed............I will keep that in mind on re-assembly.
I hope the welding will do it. I plan on asking the welder his opinion about adding a bit of metal where he joins it.

So all is well again.......
Welds turn out good.... While everything is torn apart, why not add some color....the weapons of choice.... After much rubbing with a scouring (sanding) pad.....let's shoot some parts! ......stay tuned for the finish.

I love it, great job on the paint. He!! my factory paint looks worse than that after the road miles and abuse I have given it.

Thanks guys!
Dave, I did a search on the web for painting plastic. Found a few that addressed painting remote airplanes and vehicles. Figured with the abuse those take, I couldn't go wrong. Based on several comments I found, I then decided on the products you see in the earlier post.
