your not going to like this, but you may want to have some extra screws handy for the derby cover, I have heard more than once and it happened to me on my rk, they strip, real easy.......torx 27 (if I recall correctly)

Yeah, they're T27 on the derby.

I was planning on using copper anti-seize on everything when I put it back together.

I am the only one to my knowledge, who uses antiseize on derby and inspection cover. But I haven't have stripped screw since. Been doing it for around 20kmiles. No they won't fall out. It may change tq values, but I don't tq those.

There are certain jackelopes, who will go on, about your derby falling off if you do this. Well mine hasn't.

OK, so I've got the engine and the transmission refilled. Primary's drained, derby cover's off. I can't see any way to get a quart or so of fluid in there without it going everywhere. Can I dump it in through the inspection cover?

Ya dump in inspection cover. I bought a piece of clear tubing and stuck a funnel on it. But I think this was probably more boredom.

I just pull the derby and stick the funnel in front of the clutches, I've got no inspection cover.

Got it, and done.

Really, other than the idiotic placement of the transmission drain and the oil filter, it was much easier than I expected. I only got the chance to take a short spin afterwards, but it seemed to shift a bit smoother. We'll see how it is after a real ride. I'm a little concerned that both the engine oil and the transmission are new reading over full. I actually added less than 3-1/2 quarts to the engine, and it's well above full. I'm hoping that's because I only got it up to about 150 degrees on my little 5 minute ride.

Big thumbs up to George on the Amsoil. I spoke with him Friday afternoon around 4, the box was at my door at noon today. I don't know if there'll be any advantage to running the stuff, but I can't buy Mobil-1 V-Twin for what he charged me, and I didn't have to worry about trying to find the oil and filters locally.

Thanks everyone for the advice and tips.
