Metzeler tires
I have a new set of Metzeler ME880 tires in the garage. I had them on the bike once, but they felt slippery in the corners. I'm gonna need new skins soon, and was thinking of trying these again. I have since been told that the tire pressures could cause the slippery feeling - what is the recommended tire pressures for these tires on an 09 FLHTC?

High pressure. Go with the sidewall number

Geez, I always loved my Metzelers, I'm surprised to hear you had issues.
I do know that tire pressures are pretty critical on Metzelers, so maybe that was the problem Dave. I'll be askin' how this turned out when We see y'all at E.S.

I LIKE the 880s on the old RK and I used em all over ES quite thoroughly. Dunlops were toothless, Avons were undependable but the 880s were very grippy I thought. The first 100 miles will seem loose... They get better fast and redeem themselves well when pushed.

I love the 880s on Vader. But you've gotta keep a lot of air in them. They won't wear or ride worth a damn at the factory inflation spec.

^This, and this^ Couple of good heat cycles seem to give the rubber a good "set", and Russ is right about the inflation, they like to be hard, and it encourages the sidewalls to WORK, and the tread to heat properly. I did a fair amount of production racing on the Metzeler Comp K model, and actually found the 880's to have many of the same favorable properties. I do recall that we found the Comp K's liked to run about 5 to 10 PSI higher than spec, depending on the ambient conditions too. You should find that from cold, the 880's may climb as much as 3 to 7 PSI depending on the air and road temp, and how much you are workin' them (static load of bike/ passengers/ luggage, how hard you are workin' the twisties and rate of speed, etc.) I have seen the Comp K's climb up to 10 PSI under race conditions, so on a loaded touring bike, 3 to 7 PSI is not at all surprising.

The first 50 or so miles is critical. You need to scrub the mold release off the tires. They can be a little squirmy when you first put them on. Especially in the wet. I run 45R and 40F. They work just fine!

Might want to ship a extra set to ES, they wear out almost as fast as Avon venoms, with or without gangsta white walls.

Yeah, they used to have recommended pressures on their site for each bike/tire combo. I blame the Explorer lawsuit and the like for that disappearing.
I posted the info here or at the old place sommers, I think. BRB.

I Can't Recall, was there something about what pressure they said to run and the maximum pressure on the sidewall?
