Don't overlook another option: Pick up an engine from a low mile wrecked one.

Indeed. Were I interested in making my barge any quicker (I am not), and if I had money in my pocket (I do not), I'd be all over that FM engine.

Why screw around?

I'm with Tom. I'm just putting mine back together and staying at 103. Heads are getting a makeover by Don D., slight compression bump, and Andrews 57 cams and that's it. Thinking about a newer bike at retirement time anyway.

That FM monster... I'd think it might be difficult to keep equipment aft of it in one piece.

Yeah, likely it will get fixed and returned to mostly stock 110 as before. Already have the 57 cam. Would like a 55 mm HPI unit though. I have spoke with Don about his head work too. Leaning on giving him a shot when I'm ready. Everyone else is getting just to dam proud of their work for a few extra HP/TQ.

Thanks Russ, but that FM 126" would need clutch upgrades, 58 or 62 mm throttle body, yada, yada, yada. By the time your done, IF you do the labor swap yourself, it's still going to be $9k when your done

Two or three years, the HD's will be all different and 120's likely stock.

There's a guy in florida who will bore the cases, along with S&S flywheel at 4 5/8's and 4.125 cylinders/pistons for $2995.00.

Check your crank lately?

120,124,125,126,131. There are several choices in the built offerings. You know my preference would be to fix it.
I'd be concerned about the rod bearing and trash in it. A lot of effort trying to clean it or a DH rebuild or an S&S.
That's the first big choice.
And you still hafta find out where the shrapnel came from. Cam bearings? It doesn't sound like you necessarily have to get five grand into the thing. A good clean up and don't get into the upgrade game....

Yeah, that 124 bottom end would be "jumping" right over the slippery slope.

I'm going to change my oil and air cleaner and call it good.

Maybe brakes and a new rear tire before the Cloud Rider Run.

That's the extent of my plans.

Btw, NO...I dont want to check my crank. It's the one looming cloud over the Ultra that I haven't addressed.
It was .0035 when I started. I DO worry about it once in a while.
