Flood Damage in the Driftless area
I know there a quite a few folks that like riding the Driftless Area of Wisconsin and for good reason. Beautiful roads along with beautiful scenery, especially in the fall with the trees turning. But a bit of advice if you did not already know, is that 8-9 inches of rain two weeks ago has closed some roads and made others a challenge. While much of the major damage is temporarily fixed or the roads closed, many town roads have shoulders washed out, heavy gravel washed on the roads or have been quickly patched with gravel. Ride safe...

I was out on the bike last Sunday in the southern regions of Wisconnie's Driftless and saw some washing of gravel onto the roads, mainly in corners. Looked like whatever was in the way was taken care of with road graders.
Creeks in the valleys looked liked they'd seen some high water, but nothing that created any significant damage. Road conditions were actually pretty good where I rode. Didn't get much north of New Glarus, nor south of Monroe, ended up west toward Blanchardville. I had heard that the road damage was much more severe up toward Viroqua and points north and west of there. Mud slides and stuff like that. mrs. o and I have a friend who owns some bluff property between Viroqua and Ontario (Wildcat Mt. area) and she's going up there this weekend to see how her cabin and land held up. Heard the Kickapoo River Valley saw pretty severe damage as well. That area has friendly folks, quaint towns, top notch scenery and excellent motorcycling roads. Hope no one suffered excessively and that what ever damage occurred is repaired promptly and with minimal hassle.
