Knowing my dad, the shirt and glasses probably are from the 50's.

The first words out of my dad's mouthwhen I pulled up to the house on my Sporty was something to the effect of " you've lost your fvcking mind." while shaking his head.

Weird-ish thing about it is that when he was in his teens to mid/late 20's, he rode. He relishes telling me about all the times he had on his bikes, following up with telling me he wants me to stop. Good times.

What did he say about your incident in E.S. last year?

He asked if I was about ready to get my head out of my ass and make sure my kids grew up with a father. A few more hours about how he hoped he wouldn't have to raise my kids for me. Other than that, he was quite reasonable.

She hardly even stays in the same room as my dad when we visit. That time was no different. I wouldn't have said anything to him about it if I didn't have to go there to pick up my son.

Family -- the greatest asset one can have in life, and the toughest thing most of us will ever navigate.

My dad was a recreational pilot. Flying probably gave him more pleasure than anything else he ever did in his life -- except providing for his family. He gave up flying to pay for his three kids to go to college.

I remember my whole childhood watching him smile in restraint as people made disapproving comments about the "risks" he was taking by flying. He never argued with them, he just didn't respond and went on about his business. I do the same with others. With my dad, I just tell him riding a bike is to me what flying was to him. When I do that he usually let's it go for a while.

Meh. I've been filtering him for over 30 years now. Nothin but a thing and a chicken wing.

Thanks for posting it.

Funny how even then, you knew there was everything you liked in a motorcycle. Others dont feel it and never will.
