Clearview Windshields

Hey all, I just got back from a visit to the Clearview windshield factory..
And yes it was way cool.. these guys have it going on in a very serious way.
I got the nickel tour and when I got to back to the production room it was way cool as well.. they have many templates more than I expected to see.
I was very suprised to see the owner in the shop working right along with everyone else.
Their quality is quite evident and the care to each windshield is obvious as well.
I did pickup a grey tinted windshield (yes it is a blem but you really cant tell it is a blem). I now see why it can take 6 to 8 weeks to fill the order. They ship all over the world and there are so many types of windshields that they make....
The windshield quality is very obvious, thicker than stock and the curve looks like it will work very well.. I just couldnt have waited for the order to come through. But even still their prices make it even easier to decide.

You wont go wrong with this one.. and Customer service... cant say enough good about it...

Now all I got left to do is put this critter on and go for a ride....

KT

The stock windshield is exactly the same height as the Clearview stock height windshield. I truth is is a little longer (taller) but that is to fit the curve in. So if you like the stock height (which is the one that I got) you would like the stock height Clearview...
I am 5 10 but I also have a custom seat that sits me lower and moves me back a couple of inches other wise I would have gone a little bit shorter.

I had clearview on my Road Glide. Best shield you can get IMO.

Those guys build great shields. Bet it was a lot of fun to go through their factory like that.

The stock windshield is not quite right for me... it works, but I'd prefer it be a little shorter, so I could see over it better. If I set up real straight and tall, its fine I see just over the top of it...after a few miles, I'm looking through the top edge which sucks, after some more miles I'm looking through the windshield... which was fine when it was new and perfect optically, now it has a few nicks/scratches normal 35K mile wear you know.

Richard has a 9" clearview and loves it, says it provides as much protection as stock because of the curve. I just not sure if I would feel the same way, I ride mine a lot to work and stuff when its cold. I fear a cold wind might not get blocked enough with a 9".

Be nice to cruise up there, and maybe hold a few different sizes up to my bike and pick that way.

Really I like the style of this windshield. Only bad side of it is you cant run a windshield bag with it because of the way it curves back from the lower section. They are in Montebello CA which is a little for away just to go get a close look at their windshields.

I bought the 9 1/2" for my Ultra so I could see over the top. Works great "BUT" you get more wind from the sides. It is more narrow than the stock shield, meaning, from the sides of the fairing it tapers more quickly toward the center.
On a long trip I may prefer the stock shield. Or, may cut the top of it a bit.

The link is www.clearviewshields.com and yes it was a blast seeing how they make the windshields. They make it look easy but I know it is complicated way beyond my capabilities...

I think that there is some confusion on the clearview windshields but then I am not sure if they do them all the same....
I know that the Road Glide windscreens are at least 2 inches wider than stock and I thought that most were wider but that I dont know.

trmn8r the ClearView windshields are made in Pine Colorado at least I hope so.. or did I screw up again... damn I hate when that happens...

Any way what I did was get the stock height (I think it is 12.5 inches) and it is pretty good for me. I have a custom seat that lets me sit about 2 inches lower and 2.5inches further back. So I moved down enough to say that a taller windshield would be needed if I didnt have the custom seat.
I carry my height in my body as well, I have a 32 inseam so that tends to sit me up a little taller too...

So I would say that if the stock height windshield works for you now then the stock one would work for you as it is no different.
When you get rid of the flexing that the stock windshield has (read that as buffeting) that alone will make a huge difference.

I would bet that if you talk to the guys at Clearview they will help you out to get it right. You might try ordering a "Blem" which like mine are around 30 to 35% off which brought my 190 dollar windshield down to 120.. and most of them you cant see the blem... if you dont take the protective cover off you might be able to send it back if you dont like the height..

A blem is a good way to go because it does take 6 to 8 weeks to get a perfect one...
Hope this helps if not let me know and I will pm you my phone number....
