Poconos Hotel 2017 - IMPORTANT-please read and respond!!!

There are some issues developing with the planned site (Mountain Laurel Resort) for the event this year. Need to know who has already booked a room as they are nearly sold out and have drastically increased the rate our weekend.

Please post-up and let me know if you have booked and at what rate!

Also, need those who have not booked but are planning to attend so that if I need to find a different location (which it appears I may have to), I know what our needs are.

I just got off the phone with them, Onja will be back Wednesday and I will get with her to straitghen this out. They aint gonna be full they have 400 rooms.

When I called today, asked for Anya. Was told she was out until later this week and the woman I was transferred to said they only have 8 rooms left for our weekend. Checked to see what's going on in the area that weekend and Pocono Speedway has an Indy car race that was not on the schedule when I checked dates back in Feb.

Well, if youse guys get this locked down for a set of set aside rooms, we should get off our collective butts and lock the (our) rooms down for our gathering.

About the only thing would be how far out would the cancellation refunds, hours, days or week(s), be if personal plans change for people planning on going?

Actually tried to block a group of rooms for a better rate when I spoke with her back in Feb. and she said "No need" that on line 'Special' rates would be as or more competitive. So much for that bit of information.

Here are a couple of options we might consider:
1. Try to find an acceptable rate/facility near Wilkes Barre, Scranton, Hazelton, Easton or other location in the general area that is not affected by Pocono Raceway.

2. Move the event to another location in this general area. Big T.O.E. has suggested we might consider going back to Gettysburg, especially if John/swmnkd's wife still works at the Days Inn and can secure us rooms at a good rate.

Please post thoughts and suggestions.

Gettysburg is an interesting place to see if you haven't been there and there is some good food in the area, but not sure about how good the riding would be right there. But I am sure some of our guys would be able to find the roads. I would rather stay away from the raceway.
