The Climb Of The Food Chain....
It's a little weird for me right now, and not sure I like it.... I've resisted salary for some time now and have stayed hourly and with my boys union, but finally I've been told I have no choice. The first of my 3 toolboxes showed up today, not that they've seen the light of day for a few years, but I've always been a in the trenches super...
Gonna be an adjustment for sure, have an upcoming trip to Poland and Russia for our construction techniques in the carbon capture world.... WTF Dirk

Dirk I feel like you on this one and can also identify with TalonChief. I moved from being a working super to being a "manager". While most days I am hands off at the desk, occasionally I get called on to aid in the center I manage. As I sit at the desk performing the managerial stuff, I sometimes long for the days when I was just one of the crew toting my tools and working in the trenches.

There is zero advancement in my job, every job performance eval the (newest) Sgt asks what my advancement plans are. I look them in the eye and say this is a dead end job class, no advancement opportunities. They don't believe me and go check into that and then it's like wow! it is a dead end job class.

I'm supposed to be managing but due to budget cuts there's no one left to manage so they're paying me a lot of money to do the technical work.
