is the entire trailer grounded or do you have a ground wire going to the bad light?

|
The light is screwed to a plate that is welded to the frame, and that is where the ground comes from.
Should be a simple fix.... When I get back home. I'm 1000 miles away right now, in Central Arkansas...

ALL of the other lights on the trailer function correctly, exhibiting NONE of the historic symptoms of a bad or weak ground.
I'm heading out with a camera, so's you's fellers can see what I mean when I say the damn bulb is in correctly.

Sometimes the wires get crimped behind wall screws or something like that.
If the socket is not hot then run a jumper from a hot source and see if you can get current to the receptacle. If you can't do that then run a jumper all the way to the receptcale and eliminate the wire from the source. First try the bulb in another outlet to make sure the bulb is good.
