Emerald Coast Motorcycle Challenge
Starts tomorrow. This it's like the super bowl of civilian rodeo competitions. All the best riders in the country, both civilian and police show up. There are 130 registered riders this year.
I rode from Fort Worth to Fort Walton Beach Florida with the Fort Worth Kone Killers, arriving today. They have sort of adopted me and welcomed me to their awesome team. We got drenched as soon as we entered Mississippi. Tomorrow is a practice day, the competition is Friday and Saturday. I have a great hotel room right on the beach. Great for relaxing after the fun it's over for the day. After checking in, I found out we were invited to a wedding. Donnie Williams brother was getting married on the beach at our hotel. That was cool. This should be a great time. Good friends, good food, and there could be some alcohol.

Damn it Dan, makes me want to take off and ride down to see it. Ft Walton is about nine hours away from me. I have big plans for the near future that would be more prudent to work on however

Practice went well today. It started off hairy, because our original site was unavailable because they are having a 1200 person beach volleyball tournament there. The Santa Rosa Mall came through and let us use their parking lot. Only problem is, they sealed the lot with that black sealer shit, and it's as slick a an ice rink. It took a while to learn how to use the surface, but after a few rather spectacular crashes it came together. One pattern, the Vandy Pro was giving me fits, but I finally worked that out too.
There are over 2000 cones here. KenR mounted this cool powered gimbel with a GoPro camera to my crash guard when I ran through one of the precision patterns. The video turned out great. As soon as I get a copy I'll post it up. The gimbel keeps the camera steady and level.

My friend Dawn snapped this pic of me going through a pattern today. Full lock and lean and good head and eye position, looking where I want to go.

Cone Crushing and flat tracking has eluded me these years. Maybe hope for me yet. Changing attitude and latitude

Well, there's a tad more to the pretty picture than the BS headlines in the Muller Wrapper would tell you.
There are 2 big "industries" here; military and tourism. The number of people w/ advanced degrees, mostly ex-military, working well below qualification is also the highest in the state.
