Just waiting on the battery hold down hold down strap and I'm gunna go on a test ride! Weather has been crappy here...REALLY WINDY and rain off and on for the last 3 days. I have a ratchet strap to use on the battery if the weather gets better, looks like Saturday morning will be decent.

The big brown truck brought cool stuff. There doing an electric service change over here and I will lose my "welding" plug and have to install a new one when they are done, they started the change at unit 1 and will continue till all 250 are done.* I don't think I will be ready to weld the frame up before our change over....sigh. She's startin to like like a real bike again.

Went on a shake down ride today, a little one, will do a longer ride tomorrow. The drivetrain is sound and doesn't need anything done to it other than a good cleaning and I will replace all the oil lines. I'm working on a tank and front fender off an 88, and found a good rear fender on CL for $40.00.

I can say that someone plunked down some cash on this bike! It is by FAR the FASTEST HD I've ever owned. S&S top end with an HSR42 Mikuni and a cam, not sure what size, but it would put my 03 SE-95" Ultra to shame pretty easy....lol. The test ride...

https://youtu.be/N4fYDVs8J2o

Needless to say I'm VERY HAPPY with my purchase!! I have just over $1,700.00 into it right now without the tank and fender yet.

Went on a 30 minute ride today on all kinds of roads, she's not safe enough to be a rider yet. The swingarm is a mess, like it has no bushings at all...REALLY squirrely in turns and I think the front mount is broke. I've found out what I needed to know...the drivetrain seems to be in decent condition and I'll leave it as-is for now and just deal with the leaks as time goes on. Next up is the removal of the swingarm and the frame repair. I haven't decided what "kit" I'm going to use for the swingarm yet, but am leaning towards either the V-Twin kit with bearings or the Sta-Bo bushing kit.

It's been an "interesting" year to say the least, but that's all sorted out and I'm back on getting "Alma" back on the road. I rode her for a few months around town and actually got used to her ill handling....lol. One thing that stood out is while riding her was that she was FAST!. I mean super light steering to almost lifting the front wheel, holding on for dear life FAST. I was "in love"....by far the fastest HD I've owned to date.

Fast forward to the present....I talked to Dr. John's in Anaheim, CA...arguably one of the best frame shops on the west coast. I described the rust that I found and he said $600.00 to $800.00 to fix and true the frame. I figured that's a decent deal since getting the frame trued is $500.00 on its own. So I've decided to let them sort the frame out. They need the frame bare so I started pulling her apart.

Yesterday I pulled the engine down and out of the frame. Had some scrap layin around and built an engine stand. While I was riding I noticed that the head and base gaskets weep so I'm going to fix that too. That brings us to the "SCORE". Someone sunk a TON of cash into this engine. What I know so far it that it's a 96" S&S stroker with matching super stock heads and has 10.1:1 compression. I haven't opened the cam chest yet so I don't know what cam it has, but if it was the "kit" it will be an S&S 585. From what i can find on the net, that should put me around 96-108hp and 103-119tq.....Happy camper!!
