So how long will .008 get me?

I need to do front brakes and since there's only .003 left on rotor I'm going to replace it.

The back pads are still in good shape and the rotor has about .008 left to the limit. I'm thinking that should carry me till I need to change the rear pads.?

Can anyone help me with the performance advantages/dis-advantages between the floating...mirrored, polished, chome and $79 unspecified stainless finishes? I want them to work first, look good second and don't want to spend $300.

Any help...and whatever else I get is appreciated.

What is the thickness difference between new and worn to the replacement limit?

And get the floaters, world of better braking...

I never replaced my front ones in 91K on the RG, pads or rotors.

Polished is no good. Floating is wonderful. Use either Lyndall Z+ or EBC Sintered pads.

The front is .020 difference and I'm within .003 so I'm thinking 15% left?

And rear is .015 and within .008 so I'm thinking a bit over 1/2 left.

I was thinking the EBC double H. Found them for $39.

I did end up going with the EBC sintered pads. So far so good.

Interesting though, the stainless steel EBC floating rotor that I went with had a note in the box that said use organic or semi sintered pads and avoid sintered pads to prevent burnishing. The EBC sintered pads said ideal for stainless steel rotors.

So far I've had no problem. Braking is good and they are quiet.

Time will tell.

Stlii habe the old stock rotors but use the Lyndall-Z pads and am really happy with them.

Sent from my new space age communicator.
