New Front Wheel for the Streetglide!
Ordered a new 21" RC Components Drifter front wheel and rotors as a Christmas present. Debated going to a single caliper set up but the cost of a the new required gear ( 13" rotor, 6 piston caliper, etc) changed my mind. What are your thoughts on staying with 2 rotors. Also, tell me great stuff about the wheel as I already ordered it.

Great strides were taken to get factory dual brake rotors.
Like in pre history spoke wheels days of yore, I was always lusting for alloy tubless wheels. The new wheel is purdy. Hope it lasts longer than rhe first one...

To me, the question about 1 verses 2 rotors comes down to this.
Can you stop as quick with the 1 rotor and 6 piston caliper as you would with the 2 rotor set up? Yes, the 1 rotor set up looks nice, but I'll take function over form on this one.

Even with the Brembo on Vader, stopping doesn't compare to a dual-rotor Touring bike that weighs 200+ pounds more. No way would I intentionally reduce the bike's braking ability.
But that is a really nice looking wheel Bud.

The new wheel looks good. Now you will need to start planning for the rear to match it... When I changed the wheels on my streetglide my intent was to only do the front as the "rear couldn't be seen because of the bags". Well the rear could be seen more than I wanted to realize at the time and I did end up buying a matching wheel once the front was on the mismatch on the rear really stood out.
As to the single versus dual discussion, as already pointed out the primary attraction of the single rotor is looks as the dual rotors clearly offer better performance.

That wheel in the stock size would look REALLY nice!

A single rotor/caliper setup is like stepping back 30 years. I wouldn't have any part of that. If you hit someone you don't stand a chance in court.
Nice looking wheel.

I'm with Russ on this, tin snips and all............
On my FXD, which is roughly 250 lbs lighter than a dresser, a single with top shelf components would damn near allow me to do stoppies when I re-fitted the front end with a fat and sticky 16" wheel & tire combo, but on ANY serious touring bike, I would strive to put everything together with the MOST braking I could obtain. Oh, and although that particular wheel design is not my cup of tea, it is indeed quite purdy.

Thanks for the feedback all. I'll heed the advice and stick with the duals.
I like the chromes I have on it but have always wanted a 21 on the front. Now I'm worried about needing the matching rear. What's cheaper, extending the bags or the wheel? Also, I hope to see you all more this year. I should have more time for riding.

If you extend the bags, are you then going to need a matched rear fender too? The wheel may be cheaper.
