Rain-X What's the deal?
Do you use it on your cage?
Do you use it on your bike? Have you had any issues with using it on plastics such as the Lexan on yer bike? I love Rain-X, using it since forever on my car/truck including today. I wanted to use it on the RK shield but was afraid it would hurt the coating on it; I had previously damaged the shield using alcohol lens-wipes. A friend and I were talking about this a good while back and this led to a call to Rain-X(the number's on the bottle!) The guy there said that they do not have any Rain-X product that is OK for plexiglass or Lexan. I wonder how many here use it?

I busted my clearview this summer and put the stock one back on, I'm gonna try it. I'm going to replace it sooner than later anyway.

Do NOT put Rain-X on lexan, it attacks it!!
I use it on my windshields on both cars, anything over 40MPH, the wipers only get in the way. It's great in the winter time too. Ice doesn't stick to the windshield, and just pushes off.

I have found that when I have clay barred my windshield and used some polishes, I have gotten better results. I would imagine that even on the Lexan this probably works well. If you clean the contaminants and crud off the windscreen and windshield that the water doesn't "stick" anymore.

I would expect the clay bar treatment would nothing short of disastrous on Lexan. The clay is harder than windshield crud, but softer than the glass. Clay's not softer than Lexan or any polycarbonate, though.
No way I'm trying that.

I wax my windshield with Meguires Quick Detailer. Works good. I have Rain-X wiper blades on the cages.

Clearview actually says it's OK to Rain-X their shields. I've used it on my cars and trucks, never on the bikes.

Clay is not abrassive if you use it correctly. It actually picks up the particulate but you have to use something slick, like a detailer or soapy water to lubricate the surface.

I hear tat the side effects of using Rain-X on bike windshields include hairloss, hairlip, rage, asseyes, octopus breath and blue balls.
I wouldn't try it.

I have used it for years on my bikes windshields, it does not attack the plastic, it does not cause cracks, accidents or pregnancies. It just keeps the water off of your shield, makes the bugs slide off easier and is dirt cheap at wal-mart.
The instructions from Clearview recommends that you use it on their shields. Now if it were an issue do you think that they would advise that? Oh yea, and synthetic oil is a no no for Harleys, it causes roller bearing skate...

I used it on a factory windshield. I leaves a haze that you don't notice until night time when oncoming headlamps hit it. Then you'll wish you never applied it.

use a wet paper towel to buff off the haze, the rag you use to remove it must be wet. A dry rag will leave a haze.
