Wasted $13 bucks on new plugs today...
...nothing wrong with these ones that had 12,000 miles on them.

I just cleaned and gapped mine. They looked better than those, but still rode a little better after shining.
BTW, you are just a little rich, but close. Got a Race Tuner? I'll see what I can do. Got carb, you are on your own.

Plugs should be changed after a max of 10,000 miles regardless of how they look. It's the ceramic insulation in the inside of the plug that starts to break down and lose it's insulation and if a resistor is fitted this can fail and you have no spark.
Now that you know this you will not do it again and you will replace your plugs at the proper intervals or you will be reported to the inquisition. Trivia bit: Prior to all Harleys having single fire systems their plugs were specially made so that would last longer as they did twice the amount of sparking. .

There easy to change. So I do. I change them in spring after I run 1st tank of gas. Should probably do them everry 10k or atleast check after that. Few years ago I blew one out in Yellowstone, was around 10k that year. |

Ya I go with HD around 2.50-3.0 or NGK if I am at the indie by house. What ever is handy.
I run sleds too. I have never heard anyone say the expensive plugs are worth it. Maybe $13 was the installed charge. |
