Never been inside an EVO. But if there is sumping and aluminum in the oil, I would look at the oil pump...duh...the cam to camplate, cam bearing to camplate, lifter to lifter bore and anywhere there is the possibility of the motor shedding aluminum.
How did you determine it's aluminum? |

Yes it's a 92 , I fought all morning trying to get the nut off on the crank ,the one that holds the gear sprocket on . I couldnt get that thing to budge I used a 1/2 drive impact and got not were so I guess ill get a 3/4 and try that I havent had that off for a couple of years ,not sense I upgraded the stater

OK, speaking case-breather Evo now....
Do you have the cam cover off? If so, take a look at the breather and oil pump drive gears. There's red locktite on the compensator nut. A little heat might help loosen it. It's best to avoid impact due to it sometimes knocking the magnets off the rotor, but sometimes impact is necessary. Whoever did my '79 the last time used the TC procedure, rather than 80 ft/lbs. I bent a jam bar like butter before taking the 600ft lb impact to it. Sent from my DROID RAZR

Yes, heat the nut up to soften the red locktite. You only need a few drops during assembly.
There're woodruff keys on the oil pump drive. They are well known to shear. See below.

I had pulled the pump apart two years ago because I had notice a loss of oil pressure at Idle so at that time I replace everything in there gears keys and springs work fine after that ,Ill give the heat a try

Iv got the case split and the race on the right case side has lost its hardening , also the inner bearing on the same side is going bad , rod bearing's seem to be fine no up and down motion , the right side case looks shiny on the bottom but don't really see anything . Now I need to get the crank checked for true
