I think his issue was the music on his phone came from another computer. There's a deauthorize and authorize process that needs to happen to keep what's on his phone with the current computer.

I found/used TransCopy while researching how to transfer iTunes libraries between computers when I purchased Patti a new one.

It's free and works as advertised.
