Melted Boot Rubber
Does anyone know a goo way to get melted & burned on boot rubber off exhaust pipes?

I have had luck in the past, with heating the bike up again, and when the rubber get soft again, I wiped it off with a doubled over towel. Then I cleaned the residue with chrome polish. I have heard many reports that easy-off oven cleaner works well also.

water and 0000 steel wool. make sure the steel wool is WET and it sohould require only slight pressure, and minimal elbow grease

Just had to do it myself. Used a rag with solvent (gas in this case) to rub as much off of a warmed pipe as I could. Removed the rest with Goof-Off, a rag and elbow grease. I know the concept behind 0000 and water but steel on chrome just gives me the 'willies'.
