Cop bikes for sale in IL
Saw this on a cop bike forum that I am a member of...they are selling for 10,995
City Limits HD have 50 IL State Police bikes for sale. 2006. Figured somebody wants a deal on a good used bike. They are not RKs but E glides. I imagine the State Police maintain their bikes REAL WELL. Heres the info I got: Chicagoland's City Limits Harley-Davidson 2200 N. Rand Rd. Palatine, IL 60074 888.400.HOG 1 www.citylimitshd.com Open 7 Days a Week: M-F: 9am - 8pm, Sat: 9am - 6pm, Sun: 10am - 5pm

Don't know about there, but here in Amarillo, the bikes are maintained by the dealer. BUT each individual officer is responsible for taking his bike in for its service and repair needs. If you have one in the hands of a officer who doesn't care about taking care of his stuff, then I guess it just doesn't get taken care of good. The way the cop explained it to me one day at the dealer service desk is that the department doesn't really keep up on what service is needed when and if its done or not... so you might end up with a bike taken very good care of (all the officer has to do is drop it off and pick it up, wouldn't think that would be difficult) or you might end up with one neglected if the officer just can't be bothered with taking the time to drop it off and pick it up. Thats just the way it is here, your mileage may vary.

Looks like a great deal for some people, thanks for posting Al. I was looking at a couple of '05 police bikes before I bought my Road Glide. They were RK's though, and the dealer had tricked them out a little (seat, pipes, black powder coat front end, and a few other items), both had around 15K miles, they were asking $1000 less than the '06 RG, which only had 8191 miles, I took the RG.
I wonder.......... Do they come with guns and tear gas? That would be cool.

If you want to buy one and you live in Ca, make sure that it has 7500 mi on it, or it can't be regisered in Calif. HD police bikes don't pass calif's smog laws. The ones the LEOs use in Ca, are considered "escort"bikes. they don't have all of the goodies
