I use the Bel-Ray, and it's good stuff. DavidJohn, be glad you're out of the crap you put in there, because now you won't feel bad about having to throw what you had left away before your next service. You'll be seeing a LOT of that grease this summer. But remain calm. It's not a blown fork seal, it's the grease melting out of your steering head... Ask Corndog.
If you gotta use the H-D stuff, their wheel bearing grease is better than the Special Purpose (think Steve Martin in The Jerk here).

Now you ask.
It's a Catch-43.

I used a whole tube of Lucas Red Hi-Tack during the 15K. It has not leaked or melted a bit. I pumped out the original HD grease, what little was left of it, from the 1, 5 and 10K intervals. I used almost a whole tube of the HD at the 1K.

Yeah, snowmobile grease. The melting point's gotta be high, like 40-45 degrees, I bet.

I have about 4k mi with it in there and no leakage to report so far. Of course, my bike's been sitting in the garage for a month.

I'll have to try that stuff next. Thanks
By the way,I washed the bike yesturday and saw Significant leakage at the lower bearing area. It wont take long to empty the neck at that rate.I might just wrap an old rag around it. Ya know, when H-D gets it right, it's RIGHT. When they get it wrong.....look out.
